Region Encoding on Criterion DVDs (1 Viewer)

Criterion DVDs are either Region 0 or Region 1. Both kinds are of course playable on US, R1 DVD players, so you, as a Vermont resident shouldn't care.
There are on-line lists telling you which are R0 & which DVDs are R1, but you'll have to do your own search :)

Criterion tend to release their dvd's without region-encoding, but some are R1 encoded (probably if required by the copyright owner).
I don't have Hard Boiled, but according to the usually pretty reliable www.criteriondvd.com this dvd has no region-encoding.
