I found a criterion collection DVD of John Woo's Hard Boiled (out of print) for sale, but the seller doesn't know the region. Are criterion DVDs all "Region 1", or "All Region", or can they be from any region?

This is the DVD:

Thanks for any help.

Criterion DVDs are either Region 0 or Region 1. Both kinds are of course playable on US, R1 DVD players, so you, as a Vermont resident shouldn't care.

There are on-line lists telling you which are R0 & which DVDs are R1, but you'll have to do your own search Posted Image

Criterion tend to release their dvd's without region-encoding, but some are R1 encoded (probably if required by the copyright owner).
I don't have Hard Boiled, but according to the usually pretty reliable www.criteriondvd.com this dvd has no region-encoding.
