No doubt 1999 was a great year. Here's my Top Ten, which will look pretty different from a lot of folks':
  1. October Sky
  2. The Iron Giant
  3. American Beauty
  4. Princess Mononoke
  5. Toy Story 2
  6. Limbo
  7. The Sixth Sense
  8. The Straight Story
  9. Magnolia
  10. The Green Mile
Interesting that between just these three lists there's 23 films. That's indicative of the depth of the year.

IMO, this year is shaping up pretty nicely as well.

It's been a while, but my favorite that year was Being John Malkovich.
You're right, 1999 was a pretty good year.
Sadly, this year is halfway over and, of 19 films (more than my usual at this point in a past given year) I've not yet seen an excellent movie.

well your right pretty much, although I thought Insomnia was very good, but Im anticipating The Road To Perdition from American Beauty Director Sam Mendes, and Gangs of New York, along with some others, but so far your right, nothing has stood out completly. We need another 99,,if not a great year like 99,at least a above average good year like 98.

99 is the best year I know of. I cannot list these in order, but here are my favorites:
The Matrix
Gladiator (this was in '99 right?)
Fight Club
Three Kings
The Insider
Run Lola Run
Green Mile
Star Wars Episode I
and The Sixth Sense

What year was L.A. Confidential? If it was '99, then it is in my list, but I am thinking it was '98.
