Upgrade to a 27" Wega from a 27" Trinitron worth $200? (1 Viewer)

My brother says he'll put $350 towards the 27" Wega if I give him my 27" Trinitron. I'm 16 and just got my license though, so money is in demand right now. My question to you all is are the features and more importantly the picture $200 better than what I have now?

Yes, its worth it. You will think so to after you watch your first DVD in enhanced mode.

Uh, what are you assuming it does, Adam?

The WEGA collapses the scanning-line raster into a 16:9 (1.78:1) window when playing 16:9-encoded DVDs (i.e., so-called "anamorphic" discs). All 480 scanning lines are active, with none being used to paint black bars. On a small 27-inch set, the picture will seem almost as smooth as a progressively scanned image.

So, yes, that along with the higher-quality optics and electronics makes the WEGA a better set.

In a year, you'll think it's too small. Go with the 32" FV series, they are becoming more afordable.

I'm very happy with my 27" Wega, and the 16:9 enhanced mode is a big reason why. Sure, there are bigger and better TV's out there, but if you can get away with paying only $200 to $250 for this TV (with your brother's help), I say go for it!

Shit, I had a Wega for over a year before we got our Tosh widescreen and never once used 16x9 enhanced mode. Doh!
