Hi all,

I just bought a miniDV recorder, the Canon ZR40. I created a post here:

click me!

I have noticed the microphone is so sensitive that it picks up the tape transport noise/hum. Is this common to all miniDV camcorders? If not, maybe I should return this model for one that doesn't have that problem. Otherwise the sound is phenominal! And I love the size of the camera, as well as the features.

Thanks in advance!

Mike D.

Yes, the camcorder is so small that the mic can't help but pic up the tape you should buy an external mic if sound quality is an issue
