Hey Everyone, Columbia TriStar recently took note of our comments on the Bits, with regard to the fact that they're milking the cow one too many times with some of their titles, particularly Men in Black. They asked to hear our suggestions as to unreleased titles we'd like to see them produce. So I thought I'd get your two cents on the subject. Here's your chance to let 'em know if there are catalog titles they've neglected. Please post your suggestions here, or e-mail them to me at The Digital Bits, and I'll make sure they get passed on to the right CTHE staffers. Part of the trick is that many of the old Columbia titles have changed hands over the years and so are no longer part of the Columbia TriStar catalog. Personally, my list starts with Wind, Earth vs. the Flying Saucers, Crime and Punishment, a cheesy sci-fi flick called Arena and maybe a Bram Stoker's Dracula: Special Edition. Any other thoughts?

I'd hate to veer off topic but did they mention anything about the widescreen petition?

Please tell them we want more TV product on DVD (in season sets only). I have both the Larry Sanders and All in the Family first season sets (and am anxiously awaiting the releases of subsequent seasons) as well as season sets of shows from a number of different studios/distributors. They have an automatic pre-order from me if any of the following are released in season sets: Married with Children, the Critic, NewsRadio, and Get a Life (I have both of Rhino's releases of this series).

Bring on The Critic (preferrably packed a la The Simpsons sets), Newsradio, and the Ghostbusters II: SE! And by Ghostbusters II, I don't mean Ghostbusters 2.

Since the topic calls for unreleased titles... My first thoughts come to the classic Columbia cartoons (UPA, Gerald McBoingBoing, others) that actually have been completely restored already. Columbia: Box sets of classic cartoons! (Also, a box set of Beakman's World would be great!)

I second the vote for the Classic Cartoons Box, but want to be sure it includes "The Fox and The Crow" series. I would also like to see and would buy: Revenge of Frankenstein Pirates of Blood River, Devil Ship Pirates and other Hammer pirate films These Are the Damned The Gorgon M (1951) Joe Macbeth Mickey One Major Dundee (with as much of the deleted scenes as possible) The Line-Up (and other Don Siegel crime films) The Tall T (and other Boetecher westerns) The Long Ships My Sister Eileen (both versions: original, musical and maybe an episode of the TV series thrown in) The Silencers (a guilty pleasure)

I'd like Columbia to dip into their older "classic" library: Bitter Tea Of General Yen (Capra & Stanwyck) Salome (Rita Hayworth) Jubal (wide screen, of course) Member Of The Wedding (film of Carson McCuller's play) Count Three And Pray (Van Heflin/Joanne Woodward western) Autumn Leaves (Joan Crawford) Operation Mad Ball (Blake Edwards' comedy w/ Jack Lemmon) The Goddess (Paddy Chayefsky) The Key (William Holden & Sophia Loren) Safari (African adventure w/ Victor Mature & Janet Leigh) ... and the great Budd Boetticher/Randolph Scott westerns: Decision At Sundown, The Tall T, Ride Lonesome, Comanche Station.

Ok, smack me over the head, but how about Dawson's Creek? I would also snap up a Dracula SE in a heartbeat.
