The Hollywood Squares with Peter Marshall and Paul Lynde are coming to Game Show Network. The first show will air on April 15th. This show was thought to be lost, but episodes were found recently. The shows will be from the syndicated nighttime version of the show. It's unclear if any NBC daytime shows were found. (probably not, but who know.)

When I was a kid, my favorite game show was
Hollywood Squares hosted by Peter Marshall.
The show became sort of an "event" in my family
as we all gathered around the TV every evening to
laugh along with Paul Lynde and the rest of the
grid regulars who appeared on the show.
I had always wondered why Hollywood Squares
was never shown after it left the airwaves around
1980.
Several years ago I learned that NBC destroyed
all the original tapes. At a time when syndication
wasn't even an idea, the studio felt that there was
no further use for the show, and they either
destroyed or taped over the existing goldmine they
had on tape.
All hope was lost for ever seeing the original
show on television ever again.

I was absolutely astounded to hear that Game Show
Network was airing promos for the original
Hollywood Squares. It seems that about 400
of the show's episodes were recently found (I
understand there were originally over 3,000 episodes).
These episodes are from the NIGHTIME version of
the show. I am not sure how these differ from the
daytime version, but it's just great that *something*
was recovered. These episodes supposidly also
represent the later years of Hollywood Squares, and
include their last season taped in Vegas.
So, beginning on April 15th at 8:30pm, we are
going to get a taste of television that hasn't been
seen in over 20 years. A stroll back to memory lane
as we join Paul Lynde, Charley Weaver, Rose Marie,
Vincent Price, George Gobel, Sandy Duncan and
Rich Little (to name a few) --- the original stars
of The Hollywood Squares.

I can't wait to see this show.

Actually there have been different reports of what shows were found. i've heard numbers of 3000 to as low as 400 shows have been found. Game Show network isn't saying what was found, and they supposedly only leased 150 episodes to show for now.

Sorry, Tony, I saw this one first.

Nothing personal, and again, my apologies.
