I've been waiting on this title as it has one of the best Kirk Douglas performances. I love this film as 2016 can't get here fast enough for me.

I think there's little doubt that Kino will just release what they get, and I also doubt it will be a new restoration. That said, I watched the existing HD version on Netflix Mexico tonight and it looked OK to me. A little oversharpened and thus a bit harshly grained, and a few white flecks throughout, with some minor color pulsing and jitter in a couple of scenes. But overall very watchable, with nice detail and good colors. Should look good on Blu.OliverK said:Will Kino just relase what they are given by MGM? Then this will probably go back to the same source as the version that has been aired in HD since at least 2008.
Agree with your comments, Randall, and also very much looking forward to receiving The Vikings on Blu.Flashgear said:Very much looking forward to having The Vikings on blu...and glad to hear we don't have to wait long, either...more Kirk Douglass for my HD collection...and more Tony Curtis, Ernest Borgnine and the lovely Janet Leigh...more Richard Fleischer and those great battle scenes...
Oh, I just received shipping confirmation that Kino's The Devil's Disciple is on it's way to me (along with Ford's The Hurricane)...along with the reissue of Spartacus, these have been good times for Kirk fans lately...
As usual, one also thinks of another Kirk film that should be on blu...Lonely are the Brave...and another Tony Curtis film too...The Outsider...off on a tangent eh?
