Not that you're wrong but it makes financial sense since Hollywood knows that white audiences basically refuse to see movies with predominantly black casts.mattCR said:...if this is ancient egypt, then why is the entire speaking cast white? Did the Vikings suddenly invade Egypt? Then I thought: Ok, maybe just the Gods.. which would be problematic, and realize nope, it's the other characters too.. every character that spoke in the trailer in fact it seemed, and when they showed battle scenes of lined up troops, they were lily white too.
This makes no sense.

I can't argue with that and I'm not defending Hollywood for not putting black people in these roles or the white audiences who don't see movies with black casts. I'm just pointing out why they went with a white cast. Straight Outta Compton is certainly an exception to the rule most likely because it was about guys like Dr. Dre and Ice Cube who have crossed over via rap and have a white audience. I most likely won't be seeing this movie either. Not because of race but because it looks terrible.mattCR said:NWA this year made pretty good at the box office.. more importantly, if we just say "that's what the audience accepts" it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who didn't know that but I'll own my ignorance. The point stands though- if there's someone darker than them then white audiences tend not to go.Aaron Silverman said:Egyptians aren't black.
To be clear, that wasn't my point as much as they weren't blonde haired Europeans either.Aaron Silverman said:Egyptians aren't black.
...and yet I can believe the guy who made I, Robot directed this. >_<dpippel said:Hard to believe that this is the same guy who directed The Crow and Dark City.
