Not sure if this is the right category, but:

I just bought a Samsung 4k tv now on sale. Im still stuck with a 1080p reciever (onkyo sr608) but thats no problem really as I don't have good enough hardware for 4k material anyways

The problem is that I cant get picture from my mediacenter computer connected to the tv trough the reciever...

I have a cablebox and a ps3 connected trough the same reciever that works. The computer also works if i connect it directly to the tv but not just trough the receiver. Worked fine with my old 40" 1080p tv.

I tried changing the resolution on my computer to 1080p (1920x1080) but still no picture, help? Is there any settings I have to do on my receiver og PC other than chaning the resolution? Can I force my computer to just send 1080p and not anything thats not supported by the receiver?

If the PC is expecting current DRM in the chain...

Nothing you can do.

By the way, did the computer get a graphics update right after it was connected to the new TV?

DRM in the chain? Did not get that. No updates where preformed.

I've been working on it for 4 hours today, found out both tv and receiver supports ARC. Was a hell to set up, finally got it up it only supports 2.1 sound... Wanted to smash the tv and throw it out the window.

Going to buy optical cable tomorrow, I guess I can manage without Dolby TrueHD and that kind of things.

Other than that I guess I have two choices, get rid of the TV and buy a 1080p or change my receiver...

ARC has never supported lossless audio. The "best" it can do is Dolby Digital 5.1, and 99% of the time it will only do that if the TV is the originating source. Audio from any external source (no matter how it's connected to the TV) will be downmixed to 2.0 before being output from any port on just about any display.

Aw crap...

Maybe I just have to get a new receiver...

My last effort will be to try to get picture from hdmi to the tv and send the sound trough displayport to the receiver, will that work?
