Park Chan-Wook's Stoker, is a psychological thriller that opened in early 2013, and flew totally beneath my radar.

One of the nice things about Blu-ray is our ability to visit those missed chances, and at $10 on Amazon, I grabbed it.

Bottom line, it's a quality film, with Mia Wasikowska in the lead, along with Nicole Kidman and Matthew Goode.

One of the things that I noted was the "internationality" of the cast, for a film set in Tennessee, or thereabouts. All with American accents.

Ms Wasikowska is Australian, as is Ms Kidman. Mr. Goode is English. Mr. Park is Korean, as is cinematographer Chung-hoon Chung, who presumably came along (to the betterment of the production) as part of Mr. Park's contingent.

Shot on film (35/3), and finalized in 2k, we must presume that the Blu-ray looks as intended.

The film is a Scott Free production, which will tell you something in advance.

You've got your South Korean directors mixed up! Snowpiercer was directed by Bong Joon Ho (Memories of Murder, The Host). Park Chan-Wook is best known for Oldboy.

Whew!

I'm only permitted three errors a year, and this latest may be it.

But did you like Stoker?

Your reputation may be perched more precariously than you know. I made a blind Amazon purchase based on your recommendation. If I hate the movie it's all your fault!

But don't panic yet. It sounds like it's right up my alley.

I'm playing it safe by adding it to my Netflix streaming queue

Apparently Netflix only offers disc rental on STOKER rather than streaming, but I don't regret the paltry few dollars I spent on the Blu-ray I received and viewed last night.

RAH is batting a thousand with his recommendations. I seldom purchase titles I haven't seen, but this one is a keeper. It's not for everybody, but anyone who appreciates twisted (as opposed to "twisty") stories will recognize STOKER as something special.

I watched the blu-ray yesterday (bought this only after viewing the trailer on another blu-ray). It is a beautifully photographed film and the performances are excellent.

I thought it was a real homage to Hitchcock (the killings, the shoes) and the sort of film he would make today. Very heavily influenced by Shadow of a Doubt, it could almost be considered to be a remake.

Lovely soundtrack, I particularly liked the use of Summer Wine (Lee Hazlewood/Nancy Sinatra). I though it was the version by The Coors/Bono until I checked on the IMDB.
