Good Day folks, Perusing the blu-ray forum and came across this thread (by RobertLuketic) which indicated that Criterion will be doing a restoration job and releasing The Graduate (1967) on blu-ray. I can't independently confirm this as of yet but here is their link to Criterion's page where this is apparently mentioned. I read it briefly but really didn't see much there.

As we know, there is a blu-ray out of The Graduate but much like My Fair Lady, it is not exactly the best transfer ever done on blu-ray from what I've heard.

Anybody else hear anything on this new Criterion version?

Not the first time for Criterion. Have the two Criterion laserdisc releases with the two disc one having The Graduate Scrapbook extra with some nice stuff on the movie.

Before we all start getting our hopes up, I don't think this means a repair in the longtime break between Criterion and StudioCanal. Criterion is likely getting the movie from MGM, taking advantage of the "first dibs" arrangement MGM inherited and continues to have for select Embassy titles from the StudioCanal library. So while that means the exclusive laserdisc commentaries could be ported, and the supplements MGM created, they likely will not be able to get the materials Canal+ did for the Euro releases.

With luck though, maybe this means we'll finally get a Criterion Blu of THIS IS SPINAL TAP or SID AND NANCY with all those previously LD-only supplements down the road.

Throw in SOTL and Robocop and you've got a deal.
