IMO the last good original Hollywood western film was No Country For Old Men.

Unfortunately, the only way I see Hollywood doing a western is doing a remake.

It's not going to be a Western. It will be a contemporary gangster film with flashbacks to the 1908s.

Right, flashbacks to the 1980s, but I'm still not optimistic.

Hi Robert!

I'm with you, Robert!

When I want "flashbacks to the 80's", I watch "The Goldbergs." I prefer that iconic classics, such as THE MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE be left alone! In my opinion, there's far too many reboots, already!

CHEERS! :)

You know as long as they don't name the new film 'The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance' I'm fine with it. :)

One of my favorite John Ford westerns.

They remade 'Charade' and changed the title. I hope they do the same thing here.

What I don't understand is why even call it a remake? Most members of the modern audience have never even heard of the original, and the ones that have are likely to be negatively predisposed to remaking a classic.

Well they were going to remake THE WILD BUNCH as a contemporary pic with off-duty LA cops going south of the border to rip off a drug dealer, which sounded more like HIGH RISK to me ... glad THAT never happened. (HIGH RISK is a long-time guilty pleasure though, I actually saw it opening weekend.)

"Set in New York City in 1991, at the height of the crack cocaine scourge when the murder rate in the city soared to unprecedented levels. A young college-educated black policeman volunteers to be stationed in Harlem to make things safer. He’s teamed with a veteran Irish-American cop..." and I stopped reading.

Yeah, I don't know where they're going with that concept. I'm going to try to keep an open mind until I know more film details.
