I'm planning my new surround sound setup. Has anyone used monoprice speakers. They seem to get good reviews on their website. I was planning on using a Denon receiver with a 7.1.2 system.

Instead of that center, get an extra pair of the in wall...so down the road, if you have an issue...you can swap it in.

Otherwise, they don't list a +/-3 point on the frequency response. But 8" Kevlar should provide decent bass...provided the magnet didn't come from a 10cent supplier.

But not exactly sure why you are spending $650 on speakers to go with a $1500+ AVR.

(not sure what the current "least cost" 9 channel AVR even is, since not all the 2015 are out yet)

Is was planning on going with a Denon 4100 in a 7.1.2 HT system. Trying to keep it around $3000 if possible. I do like the 5200 from Denon.

So you don't want 7.1.2?

You want 7.1 or 5.1.2.

Since that is last years it will not work with HDCP 2.2 encrypted 4K.

Ahhh. The 4100 can do 7.1.2...with another amplifier. Which are you planning to buy for that?

I thought that the 4100 worked with 4k and Atmos. Well that could change plans.

Copy, does it work with 4k or should I go with a 4200 or 5200?
It works with 4k that isn't HDCP 2.2 copy protected(Even Netflix has HDCP 2.2 on their 4K)

There won't be much 4k without it.

Thanks, I didn't know that. Do you have any recommendation on receiver? I was hoping to keeping it around a $1,000 if possible. If not, how much do you think it will be.

Onkyo, still, hasn't announced anything beyond 7 channel Atmos for 2015.

Your only choices are...

Denon 4200 and up.
Yamaha RXA2050 and up.
Marantz 8802

You wanted 9 channels.

I wouldn't touch a 2014 AVR with a 10ft pole.

I was hoping for 9 (including the over god speakers) but I may need to go with 5.1.2.

You might download the manual for the 1050 and see if it can do 9 channels. Nowhere in "tech blurbs" is it specific.

Nope...only 5.1.2, found it in "specs"...Denon puts that info in "features"...
