Who'd have thunk it?
Two films released at the same time -- one an homage to '80s domestic slasher horror (Lost After Dark), and the other The Editor, a modern take on '70s Italian slashers, a la Argento and Bava.
What with our neighbors to the north?
The film is another Canadian production from the team of Adam Brooks and Matthew Kennedy.
The film is fun, especially if you have a background in the genre, with some bad dubbing, that I presume is designed to be so. Those wonderfully tacky red lights in various scenes.
Again, for those into the genre, the film is a hoot. It works.
Shot with Canon and Red, the film appears to be modern -- sharp as a tack, with wonderful blacks and shadow detail.
Neither for the faint of heart, nor those who aren't into the genre, The Editor is a fun melange of the homage kind.
