well just saw "Mr St Nick" with Kelsey Grammer. Nice movie. Not as good as The Santa Clause but a nice movie.

Is four months enough? I'm not kidding, either. My Christmas DVD and Blu-Ray shelf, which doesn't include things like "Die Hard" or "Go" or "Iron Man 3", contains over 200 titles, plus there are Christmas-themed TV episodes, Christmas shows on my HD PVR, laserdiscs and VHS things not on digital disc, etc.. I also have more than 600 Christmas CD's, another 100 LP's, and even cassettes. My literary Christmas library is very extensive as well. Since Christmas 2013, I've done what I call "Little Christmas" on the 25th of each month, on which I listen to Christmas music, watch Christmas video, and read Christmas literature (see my "What are you doing for Little Christmas" topic on HTF). Also, 2015 marks the 30th consecutive year that I've done Christmas concerts here in Vancouver, with or without my group NO FUN as "NO FUN At Christmas" or "Christmas Alone In NO FUN City". So I'm pretty far gone myself, but I salute you, my friend! God, and Santa Claus, bless you!

well it is almost time for me to start my 4 month binge of Xmas movies and tv episode. The first episode I watched was The Twilight Show episode "Night of the Meek" where a drunk store Santa becomes the real one. Good episode

4 months? That seems to be over doing it a bit.

My Xmas season used to begin around December 15th but for the last few years since I've had more time I start on December 1st.

I usually watch a xmas movie per day and fit in xmas episodes of tv shows here and there but I like to try and not watch the same things every year but the original Bishops Wife and The Amazing Mr Blunden have been watched for the last 4 or 5 years due to my daughters insistence.

I can put up with some of the shortcomings of Xmas episodes if I'm in a festive mood but I can't be festive until late November at the earliest.

Bought The Ghost and Mrs Muir tv boxsets last year from Australia mainly to see the Xmas episode - it was dire.

As was one of the Highway to Heaven Xmas episodes.

But this October I'm watching the Shout boxset of Halloween movies throughout the month so can't even start to think Xmas thoughts yet when Michael Myers has dozens to murder yet.

I'm already ready to decorate but I will forego indulging said activities until early November! [emoji1]

I don't decorate until December myself, and the decorations stay up until after Ukrainian New Year's Day on January 14th (note my surname). In 2013, I spent four months clearing out our big three-story family home after my mother passed away, and I put a few boxes of vintage Christmas decorations in my storage. This will be the year I finally put them up in my Co-Op apartment. I may start a bit early. Might get emotional.

I usually start watching the Christmas movies literally the day after Halloween. I may start later this year though, as by the time Christmas rolled around last year, I was burnt out. lol I think I watched close to 60 in less than 2 months. Even yuletide joy has its limits!!

I really enjoy watching my Xmas realted movies around Thanksgiving time. It was fun when they played some "Christmas in July" movies last month on TV, but I didn't totally feel it this early. I need it to be dark and cool out to really get into the groove.

For the last ten years I've done my official Christmas viewing on the day after Thanksgiving with The Polar Express. I devote every evening from that day to December 23, I climax the viewing with these three movies, the 1951 A Christmas Carol, The original Miracle on 34th Street and It's A Wonderful Life. From December 26 to January 6 I'll watch some movies I picked up but haven't watched yet. On January 7 the decorations come down and the shows get put away.

I have several vintage Christmas TV collections on DVD, dating back to 1998. You can't beat them for a quick, powerful hit of Christmas nostalgia. They certainly don't make TV programs like that any more. The technical quality on the DVD's varies, the first-class MPI releases with their original music and vintage commercials being at the top, but I'm just delighted to have these rare early Christmas episodes in watchable condition. I want to thank companies like LaserLight, Platinum Disc, Wham! USA, St. Clair Vision, and Direct Source for making this great stuff available. I'm always hoping for more.

I usually start my holiday viewing and listening on Thanksgiving Day--helps make a little more sense to the madness if I need to venture out for Black Friday sales as well. lol.

Last year, I focused on all my holiday specials, such as all the Rankin/Bass, Hanna Barbera, Disney and WB specials, watching a couple each evening after work. And then typically double that on weekends. For a few years now, I have posted them daily on Facebook and surprisingly my friends have loved it and shared their memories linked to specific specials.

In addition, I will watch the Christmas/Tgiving/New Years episodes of the TV shows I own as well. And if I am not overloaded, there are the dozens of holiday films in my collection as well.

This has me wondering how many total holiday-themed pieces I have in my collection. Might have to add those up this week for curiosity sake. I know I could probably start Nov. 1 and not repeat anything in my daily holiday viewing.

A typical evening for me between Thanksgiving and January 6 begins with episode or two of shows that have a Holiday Theme. This is followed by a "Special" (I have nearly every Holiday Special in my library), and concluded with a Holiday-Themed Movie. I live for the Holidays, and attend every event I can attend Included are Two Toy Drives (One at my Church and one at another Church (Most of the Toys I donate are the ones procured at Targhee and Uncle Wally's using "Dealer Cards" procured throughout the year ). I also attend at least four parades that are held in my area along with at least four concerts, an Ice Show and a "Walk Through Bethlehem". Also three parties (One Thanksgiving, One Christmas and the last on New Year's Eve) held by my Church's Sunday School group. IMHO

In Canada, our Thanksgiving happens on the second Monday of October (a/k/a American Columbus Day), so up here Hallowe'en ends and Christmas begins, slowly at first but after Remembrance Day on November 11th, noticeably. With no major late-November retail 4-day weekend to jump-start the Christmas shopping season, Canada has a more gradual transition into the Christmas holiday. All of which means that after I watch "The Nightmare Before Christmas" as part of my Hallowe'en night, it's as much Christmas viewing as I feel like doing, right through Ukrainian Christmas on January 7th.
