Anyone who is a fan of this movie and keeps up with the various releases over the years know that this film has never had a decent release ever. Just tons of PD companies over the years, the best as far as I know being the VHS release from Englewood Entertainment/Wade Williams Collection. (if you ignore the parts where he screwed with it and tinted scenes green )

Most of the Wade Williams stuff came out later on DVD through Image Entertainment but for some reason this one never did.

Anyways...I've always wanted a decent copy of this film and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I came across this the other day on Amazon.

I always like to come here first to read the reviews before I start spending a bunch of money but I took a chance on this and it appears to be sourced from 35mm and is obviously the best quality DVD release this film has ever seen yet.

Just thought I'd share with everyone on here that if your a fan of this movie, this is definitely the ultimate DVD to pick up!

I honestly haven't looked up or Googled Killers From Space yet, but if my memory of my sci-fi filled childhood is still functioning, that flick did star Peter Graves, of the Fury and Mission Impossible TV shows, is that right?

And if I remember correctly, the hero that Mr Graves played was menaced by aliens who resembled humans in black garb, but had large, bug like eyes. Remember the movie as being kind of fun, if obviously, not a high point of early sci-fi, like such classics as The Thing From Another World, The Day The Earth Stood Still, Them, or Forbidden Planet.

Well, I have 2 sci-fi discs, one from SCI-FI ATHON and it runs 71 mins. SCI-FI INVASION, unknown run time. Both are full screen (1.37:1), but IMDB says 1.85:1. and 71 mins. Alpha Video runs 71 mins too and is also full screen.

If you buy it and if it's 1.85:1, they'll have another buyer.

Tell us what it is when you get it!!!

Also, youtube has a widescreen version, either 1.66:1/1.78:1 or 1.85:1, I can't tell.

That review does not apply to this particular release.

Amazon has all of the reviews mixed for different releases by different companies. So the customer has no idea what review is for what release. It has been like this since the beginning and is very confusing. It really needs to be fixed.

Yes, I know that. Even the reviews from just a few days ago, who knows what release they're talking about. When I do a review, I say what disc it is and give the major points, like OAR, run time, etc!

That's why I said we're waiting for you to buy and review it.

Sinister Cinema last year released a 35mm version which was a ginormous upgrade over the shoddy 16mm-based versions we've seen.

Markie is absolutely right about Amazon. If you order there, even if you select the remastered version, chances are still better than they should be that you'll wind up with one of the many lousy versions. Safest bet is to order from SinisterCinema.com.

Thanks Camps! I wasn't aware of the Sinister Cinema DVD. I am familiar with them though and know all about the infamous "SC" bug that pops up on the screen. I can tell you guys that this DVD had no bugs. If the Sinister release does indeed look like 35mm as well I'm willing to bet that Sinister sourced there copy from this. Camps can you check the Sinister copy please to see if it has an SC logo. Thanks.

I already purchased it and have watched it. Does anybody want screenshots?

I'd like somebody to post screenshots from the Sinister release so we can compare.

Like I said I'm guessing the Sinister release is sourced from this.

Those frame grabs

markiebuggles said:

These frame grabs look to be 1.66:1 with the black bars on the ends. IMDb says 1.37:1., 1.66:1 and 1.85:1. Bob says 1.85:1, so I'll always go with Bob.

At least we have it looking better than we've ever had it and I can't wait to view my copy in my HT!

Tried to watch the free Amazon Prime streaming of Killers From Space last night, but it was the old, beat up PD print with washed out contrast. No solid blacks. Gave up after about 1/2 hour.
