Used to watch him every Saturday night on Portland Wrestling when I was a kid. I stopped paying attention to wrestling a long time ago, but have always thought he was very entertaining!

That thunder you hear? That's the worlds greatest Royal Rumble underway with Piper taking a wicked bump from the American Dream and the Macho Man.

Roddy Piper was unquestionably, the man who personified the traditional American Heel. He always delivered the best bits in the business:

Nobody, but nobody could work the mic like Hot Rod:

Peace out, brother!

The guy was a master at chewing scenery. I'll have to put on "They Live" sometime this weekend. RIP

I love They Live and loved Piper's Pit from when I used to watch Wrestling. He was also fun in Cyndi Lauper's music videos from the Goonies

Hi Ron!

I loved how Cyndi would always refer to Roddy as Roderick on PIPER'S PIT. Also still remember his failed attempt to impress Cyndi "Lowpurr" (As he would pronounce her surname!) with some g*dawful Hairdo! Great times!!

My condolences to Roderick George Toombs Friends and Family, and may he Rest in Peace!

Though it's sad that Roddy's passed on, that marvelous tribute to him by the WWE also brought back some great memories! Beautifully done!

Thank you Tony, for sharing!

CHEERS! :)

Super sad to see this to. He was always one of my favourites. Hulk Hogan gets most of the credit for launching wrestling into the stratosphere in the 80's, but the hero is only as good as the villain. Without Roddy to spur on the feud that spawned Wrestlemania, who knows where wrestling would be today.

Off to smash a coconut off some jabroni's head in tribute... ;)

I stopped watching Saturday wrestling when he showed up. Looking back I'm sad I did that. I thought he took away too much from the old guys... just didn't sit well with me. I didn't like the way he wrestled... funny now... They Live redeemed him as somebody I really liked. I have his DVD set with documentary. And his appearances on It's Always Sunny in Philly, the first one is my favorite episode of the show ever where the gang put on a wrestling show (complete with "You're the best...AROUND! from Karate Kid lol). Piper is obviously not in the best health but great fun to watch. Now Friday this happened: I was watching his second appearance on Sunny, I paused at the 15 minute point to quickly check my email on yahoo... and there was the notice of his death on yahoo news. Huge coincidence... I've had several of these things happen.

RIP bubblegum Piper.

I liked The Live when I saw and the hand to hand fight looked raw and believable but what is this golddust augment about was that staged as sound of the fist hitting the face or being thrown towards a wheelie-bin that's gonna hurt, and being almost ran over or clipped at the knees buy a moving car that is gonna put most normal people into hospital.

I don't understand it looked like it was staged but didn't.
