"According to the filing, Vizio has sold more than 15 million smart TVs, with about 61 percent of them connected as of the end of June. While viewers are benefiting from those connections, streaming over 3 billion hours of content, Vizio says it's watching them too, with Inscape software embedded in the screens that can track anything you're playing on it -- even if it's from cable TV, videogame systems and streaming devices."

Vizio's are junk - their reps screw up their TVs in our store every time they come in to "tweak them." One of the benefits of having their corporate headquarters down the street.

I actually had a customer walk into the Magnolia room, walk around the entire room, then ask me "Where are your Vizio TVs?"

I wonder the "info-ware" LG uses is as invasive?

I use a laptop and Roku...so I don't care.

My lone "smart set" isn't connected to the internet.

Sam: they are claiming the content aware feature works on even external devices, like an omnipresent Shazam. It's cataloging your laptop and Roku content and possibly your PII too. Pure evil.

I know that.

I was wondering if the LG version does the same.

Regardless, I made mention of this while using Hulu on the Xbox...

My movie recommendations changed on the Roku for Amazon IV.

Vizio gets good reviews as budget brand and in my reading is building a reputation of more than rock-bottom prices. It's a shame to discover they're surreptitiously hoovering your data. I won't recommend Vizio anymore without qualification.
