Since there is such a varied output of Mill Creek DVDs coming out and rather than make threads for every one of their releases, I decided to make this thread to discuss the various odds and ends that they have released--particularly their Sony properties.

In this case, I'm curious about the film White Line Fever. For some strange reason, this film was not given an anamorphic transfer by Sony when they released the MOD. Now that a Mill Creek DVD was released a few months ago, I'd like to know if it uses the same transfer, or if they were able to get an anamorphic one for their DVD release.

Also worth noting that Mill Creek's new "Anniversary Series" features licensed properties at discount prices, some that were only previously available on MOD and one that had never been released on DVD before (Crime and Punishment)

However, be aware that Mill Creek still puts out planty of PD discs & content

My understanding and experience regarding Mill Creek's Reissuing of Sony Titles, is that they use the same Transfers.

Another aspect to consider with them, is when issuing Multiple titles on one DVD, they do have an annoying tendency to cram them beyond capacity,

For what it's worth, Amazon lists WHITE LINE FEVER as Widescreen.

I have the Mill Creek DVD edition of "White Line Fever." It is part of their "40th Anniversary Series," and is indeed 16x9 anamorphic. I had the original Letterbox MOD version, so this is definitely an upgrade.

Updating this thread to announce the arrival of a set called Tales from the Prison Yard. Includes the following:

Convicted (1950) Previously from the TCM Glenn Ford set
Cell 2455 Death Row (1955) Previously MOD only
Escape from San Quentin (1957) Previously MOD only
City of Fear (1959) Previously from the Columbia Film Noir Collection #2
The Valachi Papers (1972) Previously on DVD, now OOP
The Last Detail (1973) Previously on DVD

The MOD titles being on this set makes this a deal (retailing at $14,95) in addition to The Valachi Papers, a DVD that currently goes for grossly high prices in new condiion

I have a very large SD/BD collection of sci-fi/horror collection, well over 3000 and I'm still finding discs from Mill Creek. Just ordered "Creature with the Atom Brain (60th Anniv-2015) and The Best of the Worst 12 Horror films-2013."

I'm going to have to go to their site and see what else they've released so I don't miss out.

Just A&B'd 6 of the movies from their "Best of the Worst" with copies from others and so far Mill Creeks are all garbage. I will finish up the other 6 today.

I'd avoid any of Mill Creek's public domain releases. Needless to say, they don't put any effort in finding decent prints or transfers for those releases. Their Sony loan-outs are essentially the only reason to be paying any serious attention to them.

Their blu-ray release of The Lady From Shanghai is excellent.

Particularly, in the case of multiple titled discs, with Mill Creek, I've found that Blu-ray IS the key, as that media's capacity is higher than DVD!

Their Three Stooges Feature Film releases are a prime case in point, with the DVD's having a number of visual glitches (THE OUTLAWS IS COMING is virtually unwatchable!), while the Blu-rays are nearly free of these, the lone exception (From "Go Around The World In A Daze") having nothing to do with compression issues!

Just finished up with the other 6 and only one film is okay. It's edited but only found out when A&Bing with another company.

It gave me 3 movies I didn't have and that's saying a lot because they're OK prints.

Up tomorrow is "Creature with the Atom Brain- 60th Anniversary." We'll see how that is.
