Somewhat bleak to say the least, but let's get to it. For releases pre 1990 non animated material:
1) CBS - Their schedule is out through September with nothing new on the vintage front on the schedule up to that point. Octobers releases should be announced within the next week or so.
Prediction For Second Half - Not much. Maybe the next Gunsmoke release and folks keep mentioning a rumor of the next seasons of the Henning shows but otherwise, I don't really see anything else coming this year. As their licensing to VEI and lack of recent classic releases have clearly shown, they are mostly out of the vintage TV show on DVD business.
2) WA - They have Lawman (Wide) and Growing Pains Season 5 on the schedule for July.
Prediction For Second Half - Medical Center Season 6, Spenser For Hire Season 3, And possibly toward the holidays another season of Lawman and maybe finish Kildare. Barring a one season surprise of two, I really don't see much else. I did an extensive post in another thread listing all the shows that their page states there is "no movement on" so I won't repeat them here. Suffice it to say, it includes most of the oft requested titles we have been waiting for so I'm not really sure what they are planning on putting out, but based upon their Facebook answers, it's stuff I personally have no interest in like (Hangin With Mr Cooper, etc.). Also no movement from WHV on Chico or the next season of Mayberry RFD.
Not a ton top look forward to here either.
3) Shout/Timeless - The Rebel and next Bold Ones release scheduled for the next couple months.
Prediction For Second Half - Again not much. I'm assuming they will finish The Bold Ones sets but I'd be hard pressed to find any dead locks otherwise. I'm hoping (but not counting on) that they pick up the reins again on some complete series and we could get the likes of things like One Day At A Time, Archie Bunker's Place, It's A Living, Silver Spoons, or Benson. Even something like Green Acres. Hoping maybe Timeless may look in to licensing Trackdown from CBS at some point. Outlook= Guardedly semi optimistic.
4) VEI - Their intial announcement stated that would be beginning to be releasing the slew of shows they licensed from CBS in the 3rd or 4th quarter. I'm going to guess since we are in July with no release dates yet, they are looking more toward the holidays to start bringing this stuff out.
Prediction For Second Half - We know the list of stuff coming out. Personally only 3 are in my wheelhouse (Cannon, Matt Houston, and Barnaby Jones) so while I am very much looking forward to these, I am also hoping their promise of "many more releases coming" might indicate some things like My Three Sons and Our Miss Brooks rather than that recent list of semi current shows that CBS just dropped the rights to, although I'm guessing I'm probably wrong here. Wishful thinking I guess.
5) Indies - I'm guessing another Rifleman season release but beyond that, your guess is as good as mine.
Overall Second Half Outlook = Not great. Take the VEI releases out of the equation and it's pretty darn bleak actually. Expected but still kind of sad.
