Really hoping this isn't taken from the same lousy transfer that was released in Europe earlier, but I have a feeling it is.

Sadly, it's probably still missing dialogue. I'm told the new mix is director approved, but the original mix had a crucial line of dialogue replay after Book is shot that's no longer in the 5.1.

It's about time this gets a Blu release . One of the best movies of the 80s . I hope there will be some nice extra features .

What line is that? Is it on the DVD at all, or did it just disappear when they fabricated the 5.1 mix?

It's not on the DVD. After Book is shot in the parking garage, there is a shot of blood dripping on the plastic dry cleaning bag. You then hear a replay of dialogue from the earlier scene between Book and Schaeffer.

Schaeffer: Who else knows about this?

Book: Just you and I.

This is the key moment where Book realizes Schaeffer is involved.

The last release was part of Paramount's deal with Warner. Looks like this one is being released by Paramount themselves - have they ever quietly upgraded a transfer?

I never bought the first blu ray because it lacked the audio commentary from the DVD. If this corrects for that I will pick it up. Paramount has a history of leaving commentaries from DVD's off blu (Naked Gun series).
