Not excited at all about this (& Ladyhawk & Wolfen), with all those great movies from the forties, fifties & sixties still unreleased on Blu, we're getting all this eighties tosh. Is this Warner Archive or Shout Factory?
Amen

I love this film. Now that it is coming to Blu-ray, I won't have any films left that I normally watch during October that are not on Blu-ray.

Between this and Wolfen it looks like the WAC is front-loading for bigger Halloween sales.

I won't say what shenanigans transpired after I ran into two lady friends as we were all coming out of a first-run screening of "The Hunger", but I will say that I've compulsively bought that movie in every format it's been released in ever since.

Judging from some of the whining about Warner Archives releasing The Hunger on blu instead of Fill In The Blank, perhaps it's time to (again) remind us that the Archives has always been about variety and something for everyone. If they solely concentrated on the "classic" era, no doubt there would be weeping and wailing that the Archives are ignoring films from the 70s, 80s and 90s.

And does anyone seriously think there's a bigger market for a Local Hero blu ray than a The Hunger blu ray? If so, I've got some swamp land in Florida that ......

Well with the bouquets come the brickbats. Actually with Robert Harris reporting that Warner going to start using BD-50's, I can't now see any difference between Archive & non Archive releases. In fact this year, all the interesting releases (from my point of view) have been non Archive (& I don't really have a clue what an Archive release is anymore), so, enjoy The Hunger.

Local Hero will most likely just get reissued on a WAC MOD. Though it at least has a chance of getting a blu-ray in the future. However, I don't think there is an HD master for this film yet.
