Nothing new for the PC. The real surprise would be a game that managed to run on every PC without having to be patched. The PC gods can go on and on about the superiority of the PC over consoles; however, at least with a console you know that what you bought will run without having to wait for a patch or upgrading a piece of hardware.

The other disaster is the whole DLC nonsense. A half dozen different exclusives depending on where you buy it, or a $40 season pass. This is absurd, and I hope not something that becomes an industry standard.

I think these practices of screwing your customers are becoming industry standard. I went to buy the bloody Amiibos for the Splatoon game and found out that, not only were they put out in limited quantities, you also have to have them in order to unlock game content that is already on the disc. The only way to get the "keys" is to pay scalpers three times what they retailed for when they were released.

That kind of practice will make me think twice about ever buying another Nintendo game system.

Are you sure it's actually content that you want though? Super Mario Maker for instance has support for these figurines, but it just reskins Mario and plays a tune from the game the character is from when you scan one.

In all actuality, it seems to mostly be frivolous stuff like this for the most part. Hopefully that never changes.

The Amiibo's for Splatoon open up single player challenge missions. Completing those missions, opens up new gear and weapons for the people who own those figures. Apparently, that is about 3% of the player base. Whether I find the content frivolous or not, it is on the disc. It's content that I have paid for. It is protected by three "keys" that, at present, I have to pay 70+ dollars US for. That is probably about 100 in the worthless scrip Canadians use.

I've already paid 70. I shouldn't have to pay twice for material that is already on the disc I bought.

Interesting. Maybe your box's specs are pretty similar to the machines that they did their testing on. Half the problem or more with PC games is the wide variety of hardware that is used in them. It's impossible to ensure that the game will run on every PC.

Right now, I'm trying to figure out how to upgrade the RAID drives in my Sager laptop. My existing ones are full. About 2 gigs left out of 300. I wonder if it is even worth trying to increase the storage space. The machine is about 10 years old now. Still works pretty good though. I really don't want to buy another laptop right now.

How often has a PC port been so poor they actually PULLED the game until it was fixed? Especially from a AAA game. Not even Unity had this happen.

I heard something about a lot of Steam refunds basically forcing their hand.

I suspect they also don't want to be the next Ubisoft, so they want to appear to be proactive after being caught with releasing pretty shoddy workmanship that somehow cleared their QA process without any hurdles.

This is why I'm waiting for the game of the year edition that will include all DLC and patches plus be cheaper than release price. That seems to be my MO nowadays.

Didn't the PS3 GotY edition of Fallout 3 have some problems that weren't in the original game?

Also note that the original release of Uncharted 3 had a printed manual and the GotY version didn't! :)

Twicw now this game has crashed my PS4. Anyone else having this problem?
Lol, yes, I think a few might be.

Oops, just saw you were talking about the PS4 version and not the PC. Hopefully the PS4 crashes are rare.
