I'll start.

Having just finished up a month of the most rain on record in our state and two days after all the rain stops, the lawn fertilizer company sprays our yard and the forecast for the next 7+ days is 100% SUN, not an ounce of rain to be found. So now I gotta dig out all the sprinklers to get the stuff soaked into the gras.

For me, inconsiderate drivers is my pet peeve. Whether they're texting, talking, cutting people off, cutting into a merge at the last minute, driving down the shoulder or driving in the car pool lane, alone, in a non HOV approved car during the commute, these people piss me off! They all think they're better than everyone else and can drive any where or way they want. And it's not just the Mercedes, BMW's and other luxury cars, now the Prius drivers are doing it too. I hate these types of people but this is where the work is. I know they're mostly here in So Cal but when I'm out of town, people are very nice and considerate drivers.

OK, I'm stepping down off the soap box now... ^_^

We pulled up next to a 50+ year old lady in her minivan last night at a stop light and my son (7) said "Look dad she's texting". So for fun I wanted to scare her a bit so I tooted my horn to see if she'd look over (she did) but didn't stop texting. My son got a good laugh out of it. So the light turned green and she didn't so much as look up from her phone, she just did one of those 10 MPH below the speed limit strolls down the road while a pile of drivers were stuck behind her. I wanted to slow down and let her get next to me again and really lay on the horn, but there was too much traffic.

Idiots. Sad thing is it's almost ALWAYS woman of all ages doing this kind of idiotic stuff.

People talking loudly at movies and concerts. I totally understand that sometimes you miss something and whisper to the person you came with "What'd they just say?" or "I love this song!" and I'd never get upset about that, but it seems like there's a whole bunch of people that go to these things with no intention of actually paying attention.

That's the specific pet peeve, the more general version is just people acting oblivious to their surroundings and not caring about anyone but themselves. Sometimes that manifests as texting while driving, other times it's talking loudly at a movie theater, taking selfies instead of watching where you're walking on a crowded sidewalk, etc, etc.

I'm annoyed with items that require maintenance but it's not made easy or even disclosed to the purchaser......

Look at my thread about changing out the $15 sacrificial anode rod in a water heater. I certainly didn't know about this until I read the manual carefully. And yet this may more than double the life of an expensive water heater.

I once owned a piece of AV gear (early CD player?) that crapped out on me. The back panel stated "no user serviceable parts inside", but I didn't believe that. It turns out there was a blown fuse on a circuit board. I unsoldered it, soldered in a pigtail fuse holder, put in a fuse, and turned it back on. It worked fine for another decade.

How about brake maintenance? All you have to do is change the brake fluid every few years and maybe grease the slider pins in the calipers. That's about $5 in materials if you do it yourself.

Heck basic car maintenance should be included in a driving test to get your license. You should show how to check the oil and coolant levels, and how to check the tire pressure. Aircraft pilot's licenses demand much more than this.

Car alarms. Useless noisemakers. Recently had an alarm going off in the vicinity of my bedroom for hours starting at around 3:00 A.M. There should be a provision in the law that allows for keying of cars whose alarms sound for more than one minute. (On a slightly more serious note, with the advent of smart phones; car alarms should be silent and send alerts to cell phones. Bother the person who owns the car; not everyone else.)

One of my favorite Michael Moore segments on TV Nation (back in the '90s on NBC) involved setting off around 10 car alarms outside the residence of the CEO of a car alarm company.

So just because ringing car alarms are so ubiquitous that everyone ignores them that makes them "useless"? Oh wait, I guess that does make them useless.

Exactly. Its like saying I'm going to tie a balloon to my car so that I can find it in the parking lot when I leave the game and everyone has tied a balloon to their car.

People who pay for their groceries in the express lane using WIC and have the cashier sort out their items to match what's on the WIC checks. I have no problem with using WIC, just not in the express lane. They stop the lane dead, have some consideration for others and use the regular check-out lanes.

People who get angry at others for doing stuff that they do themselves and more often.

I worked for Safeway for about six months ten years ago. The WIC thing was the biggest pain in the a**. You had to scan everything exactly in order as printed on their voucher. Major waste of time, probably just to make some accountants job easier (or for Jacinto, maybe it would be accountant's).

As to what annoys me, just people in general, especially female drivers, they should be banned. :D

The random "chewy" malted milk balls in every bag. I'm just happy as can be, munching and crunching away, then suddenly there's a gooey, sticky, gross clump mucking up my teeth. Gah!
Oh I LOVE those! I always cross my fingers that I get a few in the Whoppers boxes I get now and then. :)
