ATTENTION

Most likely we will not be covering this event live.

For once I am going to sit and enjoy the streaming on my Apple TV across my projection screen without doing the same coverage a dozen other Mac websites are doing better than us.

However...

I will open this thread prior to the event if any members want to jump in and talk about the announcements.

So,

After watching the WWDC event live, and particularly Apple Music......

How many of you feel it will be the game changer that Apple believes it'll be?

Like iTunes was.

It could never have the impact iTunes has had but I think sounds like a pretty good service. Of course I'll try the first three months but I'll cancel after that since I'm not a big fan of subscription services. Besides there are too many free services I can use to sample music and if I like a song I would rather buy it and own it.

To me, it just seems like another rather unremarkable music streaming service. There was nothing in what they presented that would intrigue me enough to sign up. Although I am not particularly interested in such a service to begin with so I am probably not the best person to judge.

It does puzzle me a bit that such a service would be presented at WWDC. It seems out of place. I guess Apple figured it was the most economical way to go rather than having a separate event especially given that the service doesn't really have enough going on to warrant its own event.

Don't care about music until they fix the 25k limit on iTunes match.

News looks AWESOME tho, Flipboard got sherlocked!

Little shown notice: You don't need to be a registered dev to deploy apps you build and compile to your own device any more!

I am up in the air about the music.

I love the fact that just about any song is available at anytime you want to play it.

The biggest problem is that we don't have universal WiFi access, so it basically eats up your data plan if you are not at a WiFi hotspot when on the go.

....but the most impressive part of the music experience was that I could instantly build my own Top 10 list from any year I want.

Was also hoping for more radio channels, like Sirius. So, if I want to play a decade of 70s music, that would be available.

I'll try it for the three months free and decide if I like it or not.

PS: Odd how Apple talked a bit about Carplay when it's not even available in most vehicles for 2016

PSS: Watch OS2 looks great!

True. Great news. However, not their SRX, which is what I drive. Kind of sad.

This was kind of a funny read but there is some truth to the article.

Not trying to defend Apple.

However, it happens across the board. One company comes up with an idea. It becomes the norm. Other companies are bound to adopt that idea.

Multitasking was inevitable.

To say Apple stole watch faces from Android wear, for me, is laughable. Android Wear is so pale in comparison to what Apple has done with their watch OS.

Despite the fact that each brand takes ideas from the other, it's still amazing to see how they still are unique in their own way.

I haven't had time to do anymore than scan the Ars Technica live blog and glance at headlines. Not a lot to say yet. I'm looking forward to multitasking on my iPad. I'm hopeful for a more stable, less buggy iOS and OS x experience. I'm not a fan of the name "OS x el capitan" too much a mouthful. And curious to see what apps come for the watch.

While I haven't seen any details on how it will work, one of the features of Apple Music is "Save for offline listening". So at least you will be able to load up at home, or any place you have wifi access.

El Capitan is fine with me, but I am tired of OS X. Since OS XI is apparently never going to happen, now that we have iOS and Watch OS might as well be consistent and have Mac OS as well.

Enjoyed this years Keynote, basically everything they announced seems like a good idea to me.

The one question I have about Apple Music - to what extent will it feature Music Videos as well? With MTV (of it's all music video format) long gone; YouTube with wildly varying quality and buried in ads, VEVO mostly limited to a few of the latest and (maybe) "greatest", I would love *all* videos available at top quality and no commercials. iTunes has them -- at $1.50 each, which adds up very quickly. Including all of the same videos as part of the $9.99 per month Apple Music would be huge for me, but is a mystery as to whether it exists.

Any info on videos?
