I'd love to upgrade to the latest formats and have that extra dimension of overhead surround. I had in-ceiling speakers installed in the living room attic (where the main system is located) about 6-7 weeks back in anticipation of an eventual upgrade to the new formats. I already have in-ceiling surrounds installed in a couple of rooms and have one spare systems already earmarked to get new side surrounds and use the in-ceiling surrounds in the back of the room as overhead channels. Have been watching new product announcements with great interest and expect before CEDIA in four months there will be more choices.

I don't think I'm eligible, but just in case :)

I've been buying Onkyo receivers since about 1996. I'm likely to buy another one in the next year or two to setup an Atmos system in my basement. I think I can accommodate a 5.4.1 system with four, ceiling-mounted speakers. But I'll need a 9.1-capable receiver for that. This receiver is exactly what I'll need.

Huge fan of Onkyo but I never got a chance to get the lossless models due to over heating rumours. Have a Denon 4308 and would love to switch back to Onkyo again. Basement is unfinished so iverhead ceiling speakers would be easy

To be honest, I just have the HT bug again after finishing collecting my current setup last fall.

I love every bit of it but flexibility of being able to add some ceiling speakers for ATMOS wouldn't make me lose any sleep.

Good luck and congrats to whoever wins!

I'm due for an upgrade and with my 10 speakers already this would be a perfect combo.

I have a Denon 1800 receiver that I got about ten plus years ago.It still sounds great but doesn't have any HDMI switching capabilities or any newer audio codec. Would live to have such capabilities.

I am on my third onkyo. I would love to upgrade so I can hear the atmos sound from my blu ray of gravity and other titles. my second receiver died on me. I had to get a new receiver. i was just shy of a couple of months to upgrade to atmos. I had to wait.. and I am still waiting.. I hear new receivers are coming out with DTSX. that should be interesting. do I need a new receiver? probably not. it would be nice.

With the trend towards reducing inputs on most TVs this is a excellent solution having a large selection of various input formats. The 2nd zone output is icing on the cake. This would be a superb upgrade.

Partially because I've never experienced Atmos and it would be cool to have that experience in my own theater room. But mostly because it would give me the perfect excuse to upgrade my speakers all around!

I'm on my second Onkyo receiver, but am still handicapped in a sense as my current model doesn't pull audio off of HDMI so I am using analog connections for Blu. Not only would a newer model alleviate that need, but the ability to step up to atmos and have full networking capabilities would add several new "dimensions" to my basement theater.

My 16-year-old Yamaha is due for an upgrade, but I can't justify the cost due to house repairs, car repairs, trip to visit the in-laws, etc. etc.

But if the cost were $0. . .THAT I could justify! :)

I built my HT in 2004. One of my foundation components is a Denon 5803 with no HDMI capabilities or up-to-date audio decoding. It would really be nice to simplify my setup and get rid of the separate audio channel cabling from my Oppo and the need for the HDMI switcher. This Onkyo sounds like the perfect upgrade to my setup that will take me into the next decade and "elevate" my sound performance. Especially, given that I have no funds to perform any sort of upgrade anytime soon. Thanks for the opportunity.

I've had great experience with Onkyo (Integra, specifically), as my DTR 6.4 is still going strong in my living room (though currently in a 2.0 setup). However, it lacks HDMI and I plan to, finally, put in an HDTV flat panel in the living room pretty soon. I was going to soldier on with all the extra connections that would entail, much as I did for several years when the DTR was in my home cinema room. However, this receiver, should I be the lucky winner, would allow me to move my current HDMI receiver to the living room with the forthcoming HDTV and give me an upgrade to the "man-cave". It would also provide the incentive to go speaker shopping for myself (for a change), as I'm quite curious to hear this new approach to "surround sound" that is Dolby Atmos.

Besides having a number of Onkyo pieces over the years and loving the audio experience when watching a movie I could seriously use the upgrade since my current receiver can not pass 3D and is outdated. This would allow me to fully enjoy the new UHD Bluray that is to come out at the end of the year or beginning of next year. It would also allow me the enjoy immersive audio tracks that I can not use right now as I am still trying to find work and the money is not there as much as I want and need to update my aging receiver. It would also lead to other purchases like the UHD Blu-ray, upgrading surround speakers, buying ceiling speakers, and finishing off with a 4K/UHD projector and projection screen. I very much appreciate the opportunity to have a chance to win something that could make such a huge difference in my home theater set up. Without this receiver it is hard to say when I will be able to upgrade and 4K switching would sure be a nice addition along with the Dolby Atmos. And it would be nice to have two xlr outs to run to a stereo amp to power my Altec Lancing A-7's. And besides I am already reading the owners manual, rofl. :D

Thanks for the opportunity to win this.

I'd love a chance to win this as my current receiver is only capability is 5.1 DD and DTS. i got it right before the advent of blu rays so it doesn't have the extra decoder capabilities. Plus if i was able to upgrade, it would drive my wife nuts as i'd keep bugging her to go and get more speakers to fill out our basement.
