Has anyone seen this trailer? Just curious about opinions.

This looks horrible to me. The intention is apparently to spoof "mockumentary" shows like The Office and Modern Family (much like The Muppet Show spoofed the variety shows of its day), but in addition to being about 5 years too late, something just seems desperate and cynical about it.

Am I being overly negative? Does anyone think this looks funny?

I thought this was quite amusing and will be tuning in.

I think this has a lot of potential and liked the trailer. I think the self aware mockumentary format fits them and this could be a blast. As a caveat: I LOVED the Muppet Movie a few years ago and was "eh" on the more recent effort.. which was OK but not great.

I'm with you. Uninteresting preview. But I'm the one guy that doesn't like The Office, so having the Muppets mashed into The Office only puts me off.

I'm not a fan of either "The Office" or "Modern Family" or any of the trendy comedies that the networks keep trying to spring on us, so that's one strike. I also don't like the constantly shaking single camera style, so that's strike two. That doesn't give me much hope for the show, as much as I usually love the Muppets, though the scenes with Miss Piggy were pretty funny.

I don't mind The Office, and though I haven't really seen any of Modern Family, I'm told it uses the device pretty cleverly. Still, the form just seems played out, and even parodies of it are played out.

The original Muppet Show parodied the variety format, but it was itself a creative variation on it, with some honestly innovative humor. This just looks like warmed-over jokes that weren't that funny to begin with. And the Muppets have always had a sly, adult edge to them, but this looks like it's playing at being adult.

At least I'm not the only curmudgeon :) I'd love to be wrong, but this trailer just doesn't have me excited at all.

Modern Family is fun; I'm not a regular viewer but I like it. The Office just wasn't funny to me; I didn't recognize the main characters as real people I could enjoy watching. So my fear is that the muppets are adopting the same cynical, almost nihilistic attitude.

And, as you say, it feels outdatedly derivative.

I may give the pilot a chance. It's the muppets after all. :)

I've never seen The Office and I'd rather scrub toilets than watch Modern Family. I'm not much of a TV viewer and am not familiar with the term mockumentary, but that trailer looks great. This is the first time I've actually looked forward to seeing a new show in years.

no I don't think ABC will be able to capture the tome correctly and this will have a level of incorrectness to it in an attempt to freshen it up, where's my PIGS IN SPACE !

I liked how they had an obscure Muppet who couldn't remember what show he once appeared on. I remember him from The Jim Henson Hour.

The "mockumentary" style worked really well for "Parks and Recreation". In the right hands it could do well.
