Watching cable TV in my home theater (1 Viewer)

Hi all, I am not really tech savy so I need some help. I recently got a new home and we set up a movie/home theater room with a projector and such. Everything works fine, however I have been having trouble with cable tv. I have a coax cable running from my wall to a Samsung - HDTV Digital Terrestrial Receiver (DTB-H260F), and an HDMI cord running from the receiver to my projector. I scanned for channels through the receiver (i have TWC) and I was able to pick up a few local channels. I called TWC and they said that they couldn't really do anything because it wasn't their equipment. So any suggestions on how I should proceed?

And also, the receiver has an ANT IN and OUT slot for the coax cable. I have the coax cable plugged into the ANT IN, so what would the OUT slot be used for?

Your Samsung receiver is expecting a signal from a regular TV antenna. I’m surprised you got anything at all connecting it to a cable TV feed. If you have Time Warner cable, you need to get one of their cable boxes.

That set-top box is not meant for a cable signal, it's meant for an over-the-air signal through an antenna.


If your cable doesn't require a de-scrambling box, and if your TV can process the cable (many newer TVs can), run the cable to the TV and then either (1) run an optical/coax back the the receiver, or (2) if your TV and receiver support ARC, turn on ARC in both devices.


If your cable does require a de-scrambling box they should have given you one. You can usually run the output of a cable box directly to your receiver. (But it won't be coax, it'll be HDMI or something like that.)


It would help if you listed your TV and receiver model numbers.
