Looks like 'Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown' won't be without its followup DVD special after all. Warner Brothers has announced a new DVD collection for this fall. Two more Peanuts specials are set to make their North American DVD debuts, along with nine repeats.

New to DVD...
-What Have We Learned, Charlie Brown?
-Why, Charlie Brown, Why?

Repeats...
-Is this Goodbye, Charlie Brown?
-It's Flashbeagle, Charlie Brown
-It's Magic, Charlie Brown
-Life is a Circus, Charlie Brown
-She's a Good Skate, Charlie Brown
-Snoopy's Getting Married, Charlie Brown
-Someday You'll Find Her, Charlie Brown
-You're a Good Sport, Charlie Brown
-You're the Greatest, Charlie Brown

In addition, this is the first time that 'Someday You'll Find Her' is available on DVD in its remastered form, the final of the three specials from Paramount's 'A Charlie Brown Valentine' DVD from over a decade ago to be remastered and rereleased by Warner (Glad I never got around to buying that).

Left unreleased after this in North America by my count, are the following specials (Those in bold are specials I know to be available in other regions).

-A Charlie Brown Celebration (1982)
-It's an Adventure, Charlie Brown (1983)
-Snoopy!!! The Musical (1988)
-It's the Girl in the Red Truck, Charlie Brown (1988)
-You're in the Super Bowl, Charlie Brown (1994)
-It Was My Best Birthday Ever, Charlie Brown (1996)

As happy as I am about these being released, this is about the biggest waste/rip off that I can imagine. The press release specifically said that they were remasted in all-new 4K Ultra HD transfers, yet this is *ONLY* being released on DVD!!!! I was so excited when I saw the headline, but my enthusiasm was severely tempered by seeing a lack of Blu-Ray release. Had Blu-Ray been there, it would've been a 100% sale. With only DVD, I'm on the doubtful side now (at least for the foreseeable future).

Flashbeagle was on one of the other DVDs as an extra. It wasn't remastered, and the picture quality was on a par with a 1990s cable TV broadcast. So this is a step up. But why are they not doing Blu-rays? How badly could the ones they did release have sold?

Indeed, it makes no sense to brag about a 4k transfer and then issue the shows on DVD. WTF? Someone clearly doesn't get it. That's kinda the whole problem with the industry right now.

Anyone know what year these are from:

Is this Goodbye, Charlie Brown?
-It's Flashbeagle, Charlie Brown
-It's Magic, Charlie Brown
-Life is a Circus, Charlie Brown
-She's a Good Skate, Charlie Brown
-Snoopy's Getting Married, Charlie Brown
-Someday You'll Find Her, Charlie Brown
-You're a Good Sport, Charlie Brown
-You're the Greatest, Charlie Brown

I only have the decades releases: the 60's and the 2 from the 70's. I haven't checked but I am thinking I only have 2 or 3 of these.

Why couldn't this just be an 80's set? This is basically that, minus a couple of specials and with a couple of pointless double-dips from the decade sets.

Not sure why this isn't an 80's set but I think most of us would have preferred that. Just like the Scooby Doo releases they seem to love to release these over and over again with different themes and lots of repeats. I don't mind them doing that as long they give us complete sets as well.

No Blu-Ray is disappointing.

Been hoping to see the Decades collections rereleased and on Blu-Ray, but no such luck. And now that we're getting another proper collection after they've done standalone Blu-Ray releases, it's especially aggravating to see that option be absent.

Only two would be double dips for you.

Since this doesn't warrant creating a new thread for and its original DVD release was so long ago with nothing appropriate available to bump, I thought I'd ask in this recent Peanuts thread about the ownership of 'It's the Pied Piper, Charlie Brown'.

I find it curious that it's the only tv special that Paramount had released on DVD that Warner has yet to rerelease. Do they hold some ownership rights to it, perhaps?

I always put off buying it since it's such a modern tv special and unlikely to become a favorite, but it's also long out of print and prices are rising. Now with my very recent acquisition of Warner's version of 'A Charlie Brown Valentine', it's all that I'm missing out of what's available.

Should I bite the bullet and hunt it down before it becomes even more expensive, or is it likely to appear from Warner one of these days?
