J.C. Chandor's (Margin Call) A Most Violent Year, is one of those drama's that continuously tightens its grip on the viewer, and this film does it exceedingly well, as he ramps up the odds against people we've come to like.
Photographed with an Arri Alexa and finished in 2k, Lionsgate's Blu-ray edition gives us precisely what the filmmaker's desired. One of the great things about digital filmmaking.
It's one of the more honored films of 2014 -- among many other nominations and wins, it took Best Film from the National Board of Review. The current offering price of $17 on Amazon is a steal.
A terrific film, that is well worth two hours of your time.
