Hi All:

Could use some help please.

I have an "In Focus" projector, hooked up through a THX receiver. My player is a PS3. I finally have my room set up the way that I want it; 8, in wall speaker (2 rear, 2 side, 2 front, 2 ceiling) plus a sub woofer. Picture is awesome, sound is great. Here's the rub; every time that the sound hits a deep, rumbling bass, I lose the picture for a few seconds (the screen returns, momentarily to the "In Focus" default screen). It soon returns, but is very annoying. It is not any loud sound; it is particularly deep bass sounds.

Any Ideas what may be causing this and how to fix the problem?

Thanks

Ben

Shielding is only relevant with CRT. DLP is not CRT.

Sounds like you have poor connector HDMI.

Not exactly true. Please do some research.
Really?

I'm the one that needs to do research?

1. Shielding only matters within a few feet. Mits and Hitachi used to include a Degauss button.

2. I'm sure his, immune to magnetic forces DLP, projector is nowhere near his subs.

3. Happens only during "bass hits"
a. Subwoofers don't create extra magnetic field when "bass hits".
b. Lose connector is the most likely culprit here.
c. Crap mount for the projector is a distant 2nd.

By the way, did miss the 2 in-ceiling(been concentrating on the "happens during bass hits").

Irrelevant anyway....

For DLP. Period.

You have forgotten about his speaker wiring and what it is running by or over. But hey, I don't claim to be an expert on everything, I only know what has worked for me.

All that, if issues, means he didn't install using proper building codes.

Under the assumption proper build codes were followed.

Thanks Guys

I'll try the easiest solution first and check that connections are all solid and that all cables are good. If that fails, I'll look into shielding the speakers, but that means pulling them out of the walls.

(BTW...all building codes adhered to)

Thanks

How long is the run AVR to projector?

If greater than 25ft, use 24 or 22 awg. If 50, use 22.

If you have RF interference (nothing to do with magnetic), get some with ferrite core*.

Better yet...

Swap to Cat6.

*Monoprice sells the cores separate for 24 and 22.
