I just got back from an IMAX 3D showing of Insurgent before which they showed a very simple teaser trailer for Mockingjay part 2. The end of which said: See it in IMAX 3D.

This means that 1. The Hunger Games franchise is coming back to IMAX and 2. for the first time a Hunger Games movie will be in 3D.

An article about this:

Cool. I think Part 1 would have gotten an IMAX release, except that "Interstellar" had a contractual hold on the IMAX screens for a month, so they weren't available.

I like how it plays off the ad campaign for the first Mockingjay movie.

This has been one of the most consistent film series in recent memory. Here's hoping that they stick the landing.

Thx for posting that trailer Adam....but IDK my first gut response was kind of underwhelming. Maybe I'm tired. And I LOVE this film series so far. Truly loved all of them. My fave is Catching Fire. All 3 are terrific though.

Need to see the trailer again.

What are those monsters that she is fighting? Monsters haven't really been apart of this series but, now, at the end, they are going to throw some in. I don't like it when movies do things like that, at least set it up in the earlier movies first. Were they in the books or is this just padding because they split the last movie into 2 parts?

I liked the trailer and I've enjoyed the other 3 movies but, those creatures just feel out of place to me for this series.

There were monsters at the end of the first movie, too, the genetically modified overgrown dogs.

I saw the trailer for this before the IMAX showing of Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, and while the trailer did promote the IMAX release, it said nothing about 3D. Have they dropped the plans for a 3D conversion?

Per Forbes, the 3D release is for international markets only. It was determined by Lionsgate that the 3D version isn't suitable for American audiences.

LOL, WTF? Do Americans process optics differently than everyone else?

A good question for Lionsgate. If I had to guess, the director prefers the 2D version of the film, but the studio wasn't willing to give up the 3D revenue overseas, where it accounts for a much larger chunk of the box office.
