Who has the rights to this film? A new Blu Ray was released in the UK on March 2, could a Blu Ray be released here in North America?
Then are you confirming that the disc is actually region locked?jauritt said:For what it's worth:
I had pretty low expectations, hoping for a decent upgrade from the DVD and that was about it. I was prepared for disappointment and was, therefore, totally unprepared for the wonderful transfer I just watched. In my mind I always thought of Secrets & Lies as a pretty dark movie, in both theme and visuals, so the vivid colors (red, especially, pop, and blacks are nice and deep) were a revelation. The LPCM 2.0 audio is also in great shape, but the REAL surprise, to me at least, was how wonderful the print looked - I could find no print damage whatsoever (and I looked hard for it), not even an occasional white speck or two. For a movie that is almost 20 years old, that in particular is amazing. Throw in the very reasonable price (currently under $16 shipped from Amazon UK), and it's the no-brainer of the year for anyone who likes/loves the film and can play Region B. Even if Criterion does eventually put it out as rumored, I'd be very surprised if they can improve upon either the picture or sound and, unless they throw in something extra (like a Mike Leigh commentary), I'm going to stick with this one regardless.

That's disappointing, but great news that it's a terrific transfer.Mark-P said:Then are you confirming that the disc is actually region locked?
