I would really like to see this. I have his 'Slave Ship' hanging on my wall.

And if you admire Turner's canvasses, as I do, you'll be impressed by the evocation of light and shadows as Turner experienced them, captured by the DP, Dick Pope.

As John stated, a magnificent central performance from Timothy Spall, sadly overlooked by the public as well.

This is a gem. Excellent portrayals all around. You really get a sense of what daily life entailed in the early-mid 1800s. The art of conversation, sadly just about extinct today, was a big part of a social life then and is well portrayed here, but interestingly contrasted with Turner's grunts and groans as means of communication. A very yellow :) film, but highly appropriate. Beautifully photographed with some head snapping shots. The scene on the water at sunset near the end of the film is a real beauty.

Watched this last night. The whole film is composed like painting -- each shot with a color palette and composition that was beautiful.
