What a great character actor! I always thought his performance as Nix in "Lord of Illusions" was the best thing about the film. Peace, Mr. von Bargen...

I liked this actor a lot. His turn on Seinfeld was a blast. George had THE funniest bosses on the show.

Always liked that guy. He had tremendous presence in every role, but he really knocked it out of the park in Lord of Illusions as the heavy. He also made a great villain and projected real menace in O Brother, Where Art Thou?, despite having fairly minimal screen-time.

Loved him on as Commandant Edwin Spangler on "Malcolm in the Middle": the one-eyed, one-handed head of the military academy where Francis was sent to reform his discipline problems.
