Hello

I have no idea if this is the right place to post this or not so I am very sorry if it is not!

The thing is I bought my parents a Hitachi home theater system, and it was working perfectly up until some months ago. No sound is coming from the speakers and I have been up and down the setups and tried everything, and google is not helping at all. I am very afraid that it might have something to do with the hardware.. since no setup is changing anything. It's a 5:1 and not one speaker is making a sound, but the movies play perfectly and there is a sound coming from the TV. My parents are rather old and therefor do not know a lot about technical stuff. I am not a professional either but I do know my way around basic things. All the wires on the speakers are in good shape but yet nothing works.

Best regards

From the sound of it, can be 1 of 2 things. There may be more (and I am sure you will get more options

1 - Fixable:

For the fixable one: System could be set to Mute - so no sound will go to the speakers. Having an HDMI connection will pass both the video and the sound to the TV - so the TV speakers will work, but not anything connected to the receiver. Finding the mute switch and pressing it will fix this issue.

2 - May be fixable - could have either blown a fuse or fried the amp. A blown fuse can be replaced, a fried amp in an all in one system usually means you need to get another one.

- Would also be helpful to include model numbers of anything - "Hitachi home theater system" assumes they make only 1...
