This has been bugging me for a long time.

I started collecting the Mystery Science Theater 3000 dvd's(Rhino) when they were first released about 14 years ago(or longer) I'm not sure exactly. I stopped on volume 5 because I was getting backlogged with my other sets. Flash forward all these years, and continuing volumes later and I'm missing so many releases I've pretty much given up on collecting them.

My question is this--

In your honest opinion do you think Shout will ever release a mega set or two containing 20 movies or more in an attractive, shelf friendly package? lets say volume 1 mega set contains 20 movies, vol. 2, 20 more etc. This would be the answer to everything I want as an easy way to "catch up" on one of my favorite tv shows of all time.

I waited this long, but I'm about to dive in the backlog of all those volumes I'm missing. and the out of print volumes are nightmares in pricing.

I guess there isn't anything stopping Shout from releasing a couple of their volumes in one box. However, the old stuff from Rhino would all need to be re-licensed so I doubt they will ever spend the money to release all of them. They might pick and choose some bigger episodes though (they've already released the Rhino episodes like Manos: The Hands Of Fate, Mitchell and a few others).

With the prices that they charge for the 4-episode collections, I highly doubt we'd ever see any big box sets. I've done a pretty good job of keeping up over the years, but I did miss a few of the collections that have since gone out of print. I've also balked at some of the prices and am hopeful that at least some of those episodes may find their way into a future set. I'd also love to see those that were released as "flipper" discs, get the one-sided treatment.

I actually watched the "lost" first season when they originally aired in Minnesota and would love to see those officially released one day, but I doubt it'll ever happen.
