I agree. I saved it on my DVR so I could watch it a couple more times. I want to marvel again at its ingenuity. (It was also very funny.)

And, amazingly, the entire show was actually shot on cell phones, iPads, etc. Not a single professional camera was used in the making of that episode.

One of the producers said, why shoot it on our gear only to have to "dumb it down" so that it looked like it was shot on an iPhone?

And it worked!

Maybe it wasn't free. Remember, they (allegedly) paid 9 figures for all those supposedly "free" U2 downloads. ;)

I believe it is free. I know that the show wasn't paid anything for the episode when Phil wanted to be the first to own the new iPad. However, Apple did provide free technical assistance for the episode.

I do think the show has dropped off a little bit, but the "Lost Connection" episode was very clever, and very funny. Liked the use of the browser to show Claire's state of mind at any given moment.

This show sort of fell off my viewing schedule in later years. But I saw a poster for the upcoming season:

...and was a bit shocked at how big the kids had gotten. They try to disguise it by putting Ariel Winter in massive heels, but I bet "Lily's" as tall as "Alex" now. The boys also really sprouted.

Short of a renaissance in quality, I do pray that this is the year that breaks the show's increasingly inexplicable Emmy streak.

Veep broke the streak at last year's Emmys.

I suspect it or Black-ish will be the winner this year.

Getting kind of burned out on this show. May drop off my schedule this season.

It's cute, well written, gorgeous Sofia... But I tend to tire of these richy rich people, with their McMansions and wonderful homes, constant new cars, money not ever an issue. How about some reality like "Roseanne" or "The Middle".

Well, all three families are white collar professionals, not the blue collar workers like Roseanne, but the fact that Jay has all this money and lives in a huge home (Phil/Clare and Mitch/Cam have had money struggles in some episodes and live in ordinary houses; also, both spouses work so there are two incomes coming into those homes) doesn't bother me at all. For me, the problem is simply the kids have grown older without becoming more interesting. I still enjoy the adult shenanigans, but the kids' storylines increasingly seem forced and unimaginative.

It wouldn't surprise me if this is the show's last year, not due to ratings (it's still ABC's most popular comedy by a wide margin) but because with the huge cast, the show must be very expensive to produce, and there are enough episodes already in the can to syndicate the show for decades to come.

One man's "ordinary house" is another man's...

I know where's talking TV sitcom here...but I actually wonder about the property tax alone (in CA!) on those two houses whenever I see those exterior/interior shots.

Cool. Thanks!

When Matt snatches it up and holds his first party, I'm sure you and I will be near the top of the guest list! :D

Emmy® Award-Winning and Acclaimed Comedy ‘Modern Family’ Picked Up for Its 11th and Final Season
ABC Press Release said:
IT’S THE BEGINNING OF THE END OF THE ‘MODERN’ ERA

EMMY® AWARD-WINNING AND ACCLAIMED COMEDY

‘MODERN FAMILY’ PICKED UP FOR ITS 11TH AND FINAL SEASON

Currently in its 10th season, ABC announced today that it has
picked up the Emmy® Award-winning series “Modern Family” for an
11th and final season. This wonderfully large and blended family
will continue to delight audiences for the 2019-2020 fall schedule with its
honest and often hilarious look into the warm and sometimes twisted embrace
of the modern family. Produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television in
association with Steven Levitan Productions and Picador Productions, the
series airs Wednesdays at 9:00 p.m. EST on The ABC Television Network,
streaming and on demand.

“Chris and Steve have created one of the most seminal and iconic comedies
in television history,” said Karey Burke, president, ABC Entertainment. “In
its final season, there will be more milestone events that anyone who has
been a fan of the series won’t want to miss.”

“For 10 years, our characters have bravely faced turning points in life and
moved through them to great personal enrichment; we have chosen a different
path by doing one more season of ‘Modern Family,’” said co-creator and
executive producer Christopher Lloyd.

“Even after 10 years together, we realized there are still some things our
writers don’t yet know about each other’s sex lives,” said co-creator and
executive producer Steve Levitan.

ABC’s “Modern Family” ranks No. 1 in Wednesday’s 9:00 p.m. half-hour among
Adults 18-49 (2.1/9) and places among TV’s Top 5 comedies this season (No.
4). A five-time Emmy winner for Outstanding Comedy Series, “Modern Family”
remains one of the most heavily awarded comedy series on television,
including a Golden Globe® win, four SAG Award wins for
Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series, a Peabody Award,
two GLAAD Media Awards, two NAACP Image Awards, six WGA awards, four PGA
awards, a Television Critics award along with dozens of individual wins by
the show’s award-winning cast.

The series stars Ed O’Neill as Jay Pritchett, Julie Bowen as Claire Dunphy,
Ty Burrell as Phil Dunphy, Sofia Vergara as Gloria Pritchett, Jesse Tyler
Ferguson as Mitchell Pritchett, Eric Stonestreet as Cameron Tucker, Sarah
Hyland as Haley Dunphy, Nolan Gould as Luke Dunphy, Ariel Winter as Alex
Dunphy, Rico Rodriguez as Manny Delgado, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons as Lily
Tucker-Pritchett and Jeremy Maguire as Joe Pritchett.

Steven Levitan and Christopher Lloyd are co-creators/executive producers.
Jeff Morton, Danny Zuker, Paul Corrigan, Brad Walsh, Abraham Higginbotham,
Jeffrey Richman, Elaine Ko, Bill Wrubel, Vali Chandrasekaran, Stephen
Lloyd, Jack Burditt and Jon Pollak also serve as executive producers.
