Get Smart is a fun series but this is not a good price. I bought this last November 2014 from Overstock.com brand new, shipped for $20.89. Amazon has very seldom been a price leader the past few years.

Sorry dude but it is a darn good price to me and I have ABSOLUTELY 0 regrets paying this price for it!!! Just my opinion!
Yeah, that's good price at Amazon - way cheaper than when I bought it years ago. I think it was around $100 then.

That's an ASTOUNDING price.

I believe I paid $200 from Time/Life when it was first released.

You're not the only one. :(

I agree. Over a year after its release I got tired of waiting for the "Wide Release" that was promised and purchased a copy for ~$130 *on sale* only to have it finally get that release 6 months later. I do *not* regret the purchase. Part of me wants to get another copy at this price just to have a "backup"...

Guys, I really don't care where you buy your movies from as I have no vested interest in any of the retailers. All I am saying is that if you are interested in saving money don't blindly buy from Amazon without doing your research. Another thing cheaper at Overstock is the shipping program. When you catch it on sale, which is just about every other month, it is $4.99 for a year of shipping. Usually, but not always, Overstock is cheaper on Shout Factory sets and definitely worth checking their price before ordering. I did recently get a good deal on the Maude complete series at Target. They had a 20% off sale plus I get an additional 5% off for my Red Card. My only point is do your research before you buy blindly. Amazon has not been a price leader for the last couple of years. The only time I find them competitive is when they are matching another retailer's prices. BTW, Overstock's prices are constantly changing just like Amazon's so I have no idea what their Get Smart price is while you are reading this.

^ I'd say that paying $20 (or about 85% off the current $125 MSRP) was a pricing error that you got lucky enough to get in on and it's unlikely to happen again. Or if it does happen again, there's no way to predict when. I could wait years (or a day or never) to see that price again or I could take advantage of Amazon's price which is about 2/3 off the MSRP and enjoy it now.

i have never found much at overstock that is not cheaper elsewhere.

so i am doing a little experiment.

i went to their site and looked up their top sellers (that were complete series), to see how amazon would do against those prices

sons of anarchy os-119.24 am-118.29

charmed os-67.72 am-68.99

north and south os-14.88 am-15.99

facts of life os-125.32 am-126.59

rocko's modern life os-20.66 am-19.99

six feet under os-87.22 am-77.80

even on the advertised overstock specials, they dont really beat amazon. in fact, the only clear savings was with six feet under, and that was won by amazon.

i just bought get smart and the seinfeld ads at amazon today.

get smart am-43.81 os-not available as a pack. but all 5 seasons could be purchased individually, all for about 15 each or 75 total

seinfeld am-46.99 os-84.05

for me, the conclusion is that when amazon puts their stuff on special, they beat others, including overstock by quite a bit.

while overstock's ads are only about on par with amazon.

but i would say that the following clearly shows how inflated the pre-order prices are at amazon.

pre-orders:

matlock os-89.32 am-129.92

Thanks for posting this, Ron. This series was off my radar, but I bit at that excellent price.

As for Overstock, my one experience attempting to purchase from that site was horrible and I will never go there again.
