Forbes says Don't buy a 4k TV (Right Now) (1 Viewer)

Forbes, of Forbes Magazine fame, says to wait for the 2015 model 4k TVs because:

High Dynamic Range
Expanded Quantum Color Technology
10-bit LCD panels
4k Blu-ray specs - HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2

I'm not in the market for 4k - but something to chew on for those that are considering it.

They are late to the party.

"We" have been telling everybody to wait over the single biggest reason to wait(that Forbes probably missed)

Half-baked HDMI 2.0.

I would tend to agree. I'd probably wait at least 2 years before investing: prices come down, quality goes up, software becomes available and standards tend to stabilize.

Anyone needing a TV this year is well advised to get a 2015 model. All 2015 models have HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2. Some have the new chipset to handel 18Gbps.

4k is almost becoming standard these days. If you go out shopping for a higher end 1080p display you'll notice that the 4k version is only $100-$200 more. I just got a Vizio 4k TV (M60-C3) (2015 unit) 60 inch $1249 I couldn't resist , lol and I couldn't be happier with it
