I've been lurking around this forum, and have found the depth of knowledge great. So, I thought I would ask the group for some opinions on what I am planning to get some perspective. It seems that there are more than a few brands that can deliver great bang for the buck performance. I am building a home theater in my basement that measures about 16x24, though after the 24' length, it is fairly open (so, no enclosed space) Here's what I'm considering:
120 inch Vutek Silverstar Active 3D screen
Epson 5030UB projector
Pioneer Elite VSX-42 (I already own this)
EMP tek R56ci Center channel
2 EMP tek R55ti towers for R and L front
2 HSU STF-2 subwoofers
RBH Inwalls for surround and rears
I will hav a cabinet maker make a cabinet to place the center, front right and left and subs in. However, there will be about 3 feet of space behind this open as access to a utility panel, and to make hooking all this up easier. I will have speaker cloth on the outside of these shelves and leave the back open as I have heard this is especially important when using rear ported speakers. This seems to be a pretty nice set up from my research, and likely beats the full "in-wall" solution my builder's guy recommended. I have also considered Kef, Klipsch, and Aperion towers. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
