Wow, HTTM2 opens at $5.8M, that's pathetic. Evidently a sequel no one was clamoring for... :D

It only did half the business of "Dad, Where are we going? 2"

Yes, but that's worldwide grosses... ;)

(Ie., in China/SK, where they actually watch the show.)

Like Insurgent, Maze Runner: the Scorch Trials, and Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, basically "Our mom thinks we're cool! :( " sequels.

Apparently, HTTM2 scored a C- on Cinemascore, which is like getting an F-- from critics.

It was pretty terrible. I didn't even have any enthusiasm to review it on the HTF.

Even though the Valentine's Day stunt is over, we're into the February doldrums where nobody goes to movies, period, and 50SoG's $23M was #1, BoxOfficeMojo accurately (if wishfully) headlined the 70% box office drop as "Audiences Flee 50 Shades of Gray!" :D

Well, I wouldn't put it like that, but like the sudden cash-and-burns for Tim Burton's Alice and The Fault in Our Stars, never confuse a momentary pilgrimage of fangirls for an actual rush of regular sentient moviegoers, once the stampede is over.

Guess Jack Black doesn't have to worry about every movie from now on having superheroes with leather whips.

(And just what the heck was up with that scene at the Oscar show, anyway?--Were they spoofing the knee-jerk Facebook Hollywood-haterz with their cellphones, or invoking them?)
