Richard Quine's 1965 How to Murder Your Wife would most likely not be considered in perfect sync with today's mentality toward women.  It wasn't in 1965.

If one were to take the concept and screenplay seriously, one would presume that women having the vote, education and equality might be somehow incorrect.  Unfortunately, in many parts of the world, the concept still rules supreme.

Once you get past the concept, the film can work as a pleasant comedy, much in the way that many of Mr. Quine's other almost featherweight films work.

As a Blu-ray Olives's release of the UA film via MGM looks quite nice.  I noted no problems.  The image harvest appears to be moderately current, color is good, there's a decent layer of grain.  It's a nice transfer, and a very nice resultant Blu-ray.

HtMYW is a film that can be fun, but may still raise a few hackles with the wrong audience.

This is a great Jack Lemmon movie, social correctness be damned. It was the 'Mad Men' era and sexist attitudes ran amuck. But this is ultimately a very non-sexist movie, it just leaps off from that mindset, and then evolves into something else. But the scene in the courtroom with the defense attorney and the button is about as funny as it ever got in the sixties.

Thanks for that Robert. This is one of my favorite Jack Lemmon films, it is kind of nutty but in the right way, lots of laughs to be had, I am looking forward to the blu-ray.

I am very pleased with the transfer. It is much better than I could have expected, especially since it is not a direct studio label release. It's too bad MGM/UA Home Video decided to commission almost all of their movies to Kino and other labels, which makes it expensive to build a library of UA classics.

I am trying to find the soundtrack CD that was released a few years ago. On the Film Score Monthly website it claims that the original music tracks have been lost, and all they have is the album master. United Artists records never had a great track record as far as quality of their recordings, but I've heard some samples and it seems decent enough. CD 1 has almost 20 tracks, and CD 2 has 10 and is the "Original Soundtrack>" which makes me wonder where the 20 tracks came from. But it was only pressed as a limited edition with 1000 copies and can't find it for under appr. 60.00.

This is a great movie, I Love it and have watched it 4 times, 2 times since getting the blu-ray and twice in HD on a cable channel (MGM HD channel). I just love the attorney, he did a wonderful job with this role.

The two CD soundtrack (stereo album version & mono original) score was released by our own Hainshisway on his Kritzerland label, you never know, he may have a spare copy hanging around, but it has been sold-out for a few years now.
