Hello this is my first post on this forum so hi again, I just bought my first hd flat screen tv (sharp lc60sq15u) last weekend (I know a little late on home video technology lol) and I'm looking for a good blu ray player for around $100. I'm leaning towards Samsung bd-h5900 and the bd-h6500, now my question is that the tv will accept/play 4k input so should I go with the bd-h5900 that upscales dvd to nearly hd or the bd-h6500 that upscales dvd to nearly uhd? I just don't want to spend the extra money if its not going to be worth it. Or should I go with a different brand altogether? Thanks in advance for your input and knowledge

I don't have any specific recommendations on players; in my view they're all the same picture quality unless you're splurging on an Oppo. However, as far as upscaling goes, for the most part you don't have to worry about that since the TV will automatically upscale. The only reason for giving it any thought is if you think that you TV's scaler is somehow inferior.

I would buy a LG or Panasonic before a Samsung.

But yes, 4K scaling is redundant.

But if you get 4K scaling BD player, you can choose which scaler you like best.

Personally...

Go cheap, like $60-$75 cheap.

4K BD itself will be out next year...and 4K scaling BD players will not play 4K BD.
