The Disclaimer

Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

Big week for me. 2014's funniest film, The Interview. 2014's second best film, Birdman (Whiplash #1). 2014's best TV show, Game Of Thrones. And of course, Caveman! Zug Zug.

Thanks Mike! Always throws me a bit when I see that VHS logo...

I preordered the Best Buy exclusive Blu at $39.99, and got the free shipping for orders above $35. Then the price dropped to $34.99 before it shipped, so I saved $5.00 right there. Now it looks like the street price will be $29.99 on Tuesday. I figure with the shipping I would have had to pay if I'd waited until Tuesday to order, it's pretty much a wash. And this way, it'll be in my hands on Tuesday instead of having to wait a week or so.

Birdman will merit a rental at some point.

What BB exclusive?

If it's Game of Thrones where do you see it going to $30?

I'll be picking up Munich and probably The Interview. At some point, I may get Beach Blanket Bingo.

For those that haven't seen them, Birdman, The Theory Of Everything, Life Itself and St. Vincent are all worth renting.

Thanks for the prices, Mike! :)

I should be receiving Birdman for review this week, so expect that review shortly. Lots of vintage films this week: How to Murder Your Wife, Kiss Me Stupid, The Wild Angels, Muscle Beach Party, The Road to Hong Kong.

Thanks, Mike!

Sorry for the confusion! I got in after midnight last night, took a quick peek at the thread, and saw the price in the DVD table rather than the Blu-Ray table. My bad! Makes me feel even better about that preorder now.

I've had The Interview on iTunes HD since its been available. Basically getting this for the extras and the vudu HDX copy. Plus the Blu will look better than streaming.

Thanks for the list. I pre-ordered PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. It's hard to believe that I was a VHS kid from the 80s who loved every single horror film and yet I've never seen this one.

Thanks for the Roundup. I'm in for Birdman and Life Itself after price drops, but last week was too expensive for me to get anything else right now. Munich too, later.

What? No love for the Doctor Who Christmas Special??

In addition to Barbara Bach, "Caveman" also sports the funniest T-REX ever conceived for the cinema.

I'm probably screwing up...but I'll be taking possession of Birdman, St. Vincent and The Theory of Everything tomorrow. (Amazon's still got a couple of hours to drop it's price on TToE to match Target @ $19.99.)

These are all blind buys for me...but I've read so much about them that I feel confident I'll like them all.

Note to Jason V: I also have two Disney Legacy CDs on their way to me The Brubeck one I wrote about last week (Dave Digs Disney) and The Little Mermaid. I'm weighing whether there's much on these releases I don't already have...outside of the new packaging. I figured the Little Mermaid is one I will enjoy having no matter what.

Yay Mike! For the price, these releases are a steal. The music has all been cleaned up and there's a healthy amount of bonus or demo tracks, too. They're all really worth it in my book especially for the price point. (I love the Fantasia one...I just throw a disc on when I need to concentrate and go.)

I'm not thrilled with the upcoming Toy Story set, but you know I have it preordered...
