Okay, I have an Onkyo TX-NR616 (which does have a sub-out, but it's really not a functional output due to poor manufacturing I guess), and I need to figure out a way to output to two separate TV's simultaneously. Of course, my only option seems to be an HDMI splitter. But, I'd like to know how the AUDIO TV OUT function really works on my receiver. I know that it will only be at 2.1 instead of my usual 5.1, but I can live with that since I can just go into the settings and change it back at will. But will the AUDIO TV OUT send the audio from my receiver to every single display, or will the splitter mess with that function? I see no reason that it wouldn't work, but I'd like to be sure before purchasing the splitter. I'll need audio coming from both TVs (as they're in separate rooms). Thanks in advance.

Your HDMI out settings are irrelevant to whatever happens next 1x2, or combinations to make 1x10,000.

2, or 10,000.

Makes no difference.

I'm not sure if a splitter will mess with the ARC return audio; I wouldn't think so, but ARCs can be squirrelly.

But if each TV has either an optical or a coax you could definitely use those.

My thoughts exactly. I'm gonna give it a shot though, if at the very least I can get the video, there's alternatives for sound.

He didn't say anything about needing audio back from the TVs to the Onkyo.

He said, "I'll need audio coming from both TVs". Wasn't positive that's what he really meant, but was covering the bases.
