It is still happening. I am seeing an ad for edX on the iPhone app in the topics.

I'm having the same problem. I'm signed in, via an iPhone. An ad for Google with a guy in the desert saying "Whoa" before I can skip it. Other ads too, but that one is the worst.
Carl as you are not a premium subscriber you will still see ads. Rodney, have you updated your app? Since then it's been working properly for my test user.
We didn't renew with the app store as we're upgrading our software soon. You can download Tapatalk for iOS and browse or forum the same way.
