Cool, Ron. I had figured it would be a good fit with Twilight Time, but they just said on the FB page that it won't be them, most likely Sony itself. Whoever puts it out, I'll be very grateful and a day-one purchaser.

I'm not surprised that 1776 is getting the deluxe treatment. It has been a staple in high school social studies classes throughout the vhs and dvd eras, and William Daniels has retained a kind of cache with younger viewers thanks to his work on television. It probably has been a modest seller for Columbia/Sony over the years.

I am very hopeful about any release coming out of this. Just in case anyone is listening, if it could include as a bonus feature the National Park Service Film Howard De Silva did as Ben Franklin, that would be really terrific!

And the director liked the ending without the exit music, right?

For longer than that. I went on a class trip in the 5th grade to a theatrical showing back before the vhs days - sometime around 1976... Bicentennial and all.

Excellent clip.

A favorite TV show, a favorite musical and a favorite actor.

It's a hat trick combined with inside jokes.

Although they could have gone for an even bigger inside joke if she whispered over to him and Dr. Craig then said, "Good God, you're not going to suggest that we......in the middle of the afternoon?" And then given the setting of the show the response, "Not everyone's from Boston!" would have been equally perfect!
