Shout! Factory acquires Slamdance Feature "Bloodsucking Bastards" (1 Viewer)

LOS ANGELES / NEW YORK / PARK CITY (January 29, 2015) – Shout! Factory, a leadingmulti- platform entertainment company, has acquired the North American rights toBLOODSUCKING BASTARDS, a vampire comedy-horror feature directed by Brian James O’Connell and penned bythe comedy troupe Dr. God from an original script by Ryan Mitts. The announcement was made today by Shout! Factory’s founder Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos, and the producers of the film.

In this picture deal, Shout! Factory secured exclusive North American rights to BLOODSUCKING BASTARDS, including theatrical, home entertainment, digital distribution and broadcast for cross-platform releases in the U.S. and Canada.

“Dr. God has made a gem of a horror comedy that fans will be quoting for years to come. It has the broad appeal of a mainstream hit, but the twisted sensibility of a cult favorite. It’s right at home here, and we plan to take good care of it across all distribution channels,” states Jordan Fields, Associate Vice President of Acquisitions.

BLOODSUCKING BASTARDS stars Fran Kranz (Cabin in the Woods) as an overworked officeworker whose telemarketing company is slowly taken over by vampires led by his longtime nemesis(Pedro Pascal of Game of Thrones). Described as Office Space meets Shaun of the Dead, BLOODSUCKING BASTARDSalso stars Emma Fitzpatrick (The Collection), Joey Kern (Cabin Fever), YvetteYates (Inherent Vice), and Joel Murray (Mad Men), as well as Dr. God members Justin Ware, NeilGarguilo, David Park, and Sean Cowhig.

The film made its World Premiere as the opening night feature for the Slamdance Film Festivalon January 23rd, where it received rave reviews, and followed its debut with a well-attended Slamdance opening night party presented by Social House and the video game ZOMBEER, with the cast and crewin attendance. BLOODSUCKING BASTARDS was developed by Fortress Features and Maybe This Year(MTY) Productions in partnership with Dr. God and director O’Connell. The film was written by Dr. Godand Ryan Mitts, financed by Fortress and MTY, and produced by Fortress’ Brett Forbes and PatrickRizzotti (The Collector and The Collection), MTY’s Brandon Evans and Colleen Hard, and Dr. God’sJustin Ware. “We had an incredible time making this movie, and we can’t wait for Shout! Cool. As a Slamdance alumnus 2010 for a short film, I always like to hear about success stories like this one. Slamdance was the most fun festival I've been to in my sweet short life.
