I have had this problem now with two receivers - so I am starting to think it is related to the optical input from my HTPC
I run Windows Media Center into my Yamaha receiver. Usually, I play it in stereo, but I do have a 5.1 setup. It seems that when I run the 5.1, it will overload the receiver, and the receiver switches off. Mind you, I am not playing the receiver loudly.
Sometimes, if I ratchet down the output from the HTPC (max of 50 - down to ~20) it will prevent the overload. Still it seems odd.
Anyone have insight into this?
